Based at: All Dyfed Powys Police Custody Suites; Newtown, Aberystwyth, Llanelli, Brecon, Haverfordwest, Cardigan

Role Purpose:

Adferiad, in partnership with Dyfed-Powys Police, is launching an innovative pilot project aimed at supporting young people aged 17 and under during a critical period: while they are in police custody. The Reachable Moments Worker (RMW) will be a first responder to requests from police custody staff, attending custody suites to provide immediate, compassionate, and focused support.
The RMW will engage with young people during their waiting time, offering emotional support and guidance, and connecting them to longer-term services. The goal is to use this moment of vulnerability and reflection as an opportunity to redirect young people away from future criminal behaviour and towards healthier life choices.
The service all custody suites in Dyfed Powys Police force 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When a RMW is required, the police will contact our on-call team, who will then pass the job onto one of the RMW’s. The role is flexible, and availability is dictated by the RMW who will decide each month what periods of time they wish to cover, and what police stations they are willing to attend.
The proposed interview dates for this role are 18th & 19th August 2025
