Summary
Ecologist (Hybrid/Home Working) needed in Belfast
Contract Type: 3-month initial contract (potential for extension)
Rate: Up to £45/hr
Hours: 40 hours/week (flexible working considered)
Location: Belfast-based (1 day/week in office site visits as required)
Start Date: Immediate
We are looking for a skilled Ecologist to support the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) in Northern Ireland with ecological surveys for highways and rail projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and conduct ecological surveys
- Ensure compliance with UK and NI wildlife legislation
- Review and produce ecological reports
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Make informed, independent decisions in both field and office settings
Requirements:
- 3–4 years of relevant ecological experience
- PTS certification highly desirable
- Strong understanding of UK and NI wildlife legislation
- Proven ability to lead surveys and produce reports
- Full UK driving licence (vehicle provided for site work)
- Ability to work independently
Additional Information:
- Primarily NI-based, with potential to review work from other regions
- Flexible working arrangements available
- Travel required for site work (vehicle provided)
