29.6 hours per week, Permanent post
£37,552 to £40,654 per annum (inclusive of £2,287 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)

You will be required to work within a Practice Team (Children & Families) as a Social Worker undertaking an integrated range of social work services in relation to child welfare promotion and support for children and their families: arranging and supporting care placements for children who require to live away from home, preventative work and joint work with other agencies as required, working to the direction of the Team Leader. You will work and develop data to assist with understanding trends and target service delivery alongside the Team Leader, and deliver these services in accordance with current legislation and Comhairle procedures and standards.

You must have experience of undertaking assessment, child-centred planning and case reviewing, and of direct intervention work with children and families, along with relevant experience of inter-agency and multi-disciplinary work. You will have knowledge of principles of good practice in child-centred assessment, case management and planning processes and up to date knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in children and families work. You will also be required to work, where necessary, in supporting other statutory Social Work services within the Local Authority.

A full, unrestricted driving licence is essential.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children and Protected Adults (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot) . This position requires registration with the SSSC.

Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade, with annual incremental progression thereafter.
