Summary
A prestigious primary school located in the vibrant borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, London, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive educational team. The successful candidate will have the rewarding opportunity to support a Year 4 pupil with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth within a nurturing learning environment.
As an integral member of our client's SEN support team, the SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to develop and implement individualised strategies that cater to the unique needs of the pupil. The role requires a patient, understanding, and proactive approach to managing ADHD symptoms, ensuring that the pupil receives the necessary support to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one support during lessons, adapting materials and activities to promote engagement and understanding
- Implementing behaviour management techniques that align with the school's policies and the pupil's individual education plan
- Encouraging positive social interactions and facilitating the development of friendships with peers
- Maintaining accurate records of the pupil's progress and communicating regularly with the class teacher and parents
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of interventions targeting specific areas of need, such as attention, organisation, and impulse control
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or special educational needs (NVQ Level 2 or 3, Teaching Assistant Diploma, or equivalent)
- Previous experience working with children with ADHD or other special educational needs
- A strong understanding of ADHD and its impact on learning and behaviour
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
- A commitment to promoting inclusivity and embracing diversity within the school community
