Summary


We are looking to appoint experienced and motivated individuals to join our Ophthalmology team. These posts are aimed at providing ophthalmology surgery (cataracts) at the RoyalCornwall Hospital,Truro,associatedhospitalsandperipheral sitesinCornwall. The successful candidates are expected to deliver general and specialist ophthalmological services, these posts will also include elements of eye casualty and on-call.

Thepostholders areexpectedtoworkwiththeConsultantsub-specialtyleadstomitigate possible risks to the service and to support the service’s administrative team in organising, planning, and maintaining a safe and well-led service.

Thispostwill benefitfroma well-supported,regular 10PA jobplan. The post holder is a key member of the team and is expected to approach the role with a team-based view on relationships within the department and with other specialties in the organisation. Successful candidates will be encouraged to engage and contribute to clinical audit, governance and quality improvement and innovation in the specialty and trust.

• Independent outpatient clinics including an emergency eye clinic and support in primarycare.
• Performlaserandminoroperativeproceduresasandwhenneeded.
• Participationin1in7oncallrota.
• Supervisionasrequiredofjuniormedicalstaffduringworkinghoursinthedepartment.
• InvolvementinClinicalAudit,teaching,andresearch.
• Additionaldutiesasmayberequiredwithinthegradeofatemporaryorpermanentnature.
