Huntingdonshire District Council is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Senior Recovery Officer to join our fantastic Revenues and Benefits team.
About the role
In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently recovering Council Tax, National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR), and Business Improvement Levy (BID) in accordance with council policies and relevant legislation.
Your work will not only ensure that key performance targets are met but will also provide essential support and motivation to your colleagues, contributing to the overall success of our team. As a Senior Recovery Officer, you will engage directly with customers to negotiate payment arrangements and monitor compliance with these agreements.
Your ability to represent the council in court proceedings will be crucial, as you will present cases clearly and concisely before magistrates and legal representatives. You will work collaboratively with various departments and external organisations to resolve queries and collect outstanding debts.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about providing excellent customer service while maintaining a fair and effective recovery process.
About you
With a strong background in debt recovery and excellent communication skills, you will have experience dealing with customers in challenging situations, demonstrating empathy and negotiation skills while effectively managing conflicting priorities.
Your knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation will empower you to navigate complex issues with confidence. Ideally, you will have relevant qualifications and a commitment to continuous improvement, always seeking innovative ways to enhance service delivery.
