Summary

JOB DESCRIPTON: SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT.

RESPONSIBLE TO ASSISTANT/DEPUTY/MANAGER/PROPRIETOR.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

A, To lead other members of staff in order to provide the individual care required by each resident. Making sure that they retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible.
B, To ensure that a happy and caring atmosphere is provided and be involved in the general activities of the Home.
C, You will be asked to deputise for the manager or deputy in their absence and may also have special areas of responsibility within the home.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1, Help residents who need assistance with washing, toileting, dressing and undressing
2, Help residents who have limited mobility or physical disabilities, making the best use of aids provided.
3, Assist and control of incontinence, providing comfort and dignity.
4, Care for residents who are temporary unwell.
5, Help care for residents who are dying.
6, Assist in giving stimulation to residents by talking to them and by helping them to continue with hobbies and activities in the Home, incorporation with our activities.
7, Answer promptly emergency buzzers, the door and telephone.
8, Make visitors welcome and give them refreshments and any assistance that they may require.
9, Take part in staff and residents meetings and attend training sessions when required.
10, Make and change beds when necessary, tidy rooms and do light cleaning duties, empty and clean commodes.
11, Assist residents with meals (those who need help), lay tables and trays, serve meals, help wash up, prepare light meals, clean and tidy dining room.
12, Carry out key worker system.
13, Observe the Home Health and Safety Policy at all times. Reporting any defects to the management.
14, Carry out duties with regard to the Home Fire Regulations Policy.
15, Support managers to implement, develop and review care plans for all residents on a monthly basis.
16, Promote and support staff development and assist with training needs for individuals.
17, Maintain and administer medication follow correct procedures and ensure safe storage and custody at all times.
18, Provide an adequate handover of each working shift ensuring all documentation is up to date and legible.
19, Report any incidences and occurrences to a management team as soon as possible.
20, Liaise with outside agencies and health care professionals in an efficient and competent manner reporting any special instructions to the manager and filling in the correct documentation.
