Summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a passionate and experienced neonatal nurse to join our dynamic and compassionate team as anAdvanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP). This role is central to delivering high-quality, family-centred care to neonates requiring Level 2 and Level 3 support across our neonatal services.
· Working independently on the medical rota (TIER 1/TIER 2 depending on level of expertise and clinical area) to provide 24 hour care as required, with clinical supervision provided by a Consultant Neonatologist.
· Holding the emergency bleep for labour ward calls, attending at risk deliveries and carrying out basic and advanced newborn resuscitation where necessary.
· Carrying out the examination of the newborn prior to discharge, making appropriate referrals and instigating treatment when required.
· Independently prescribing medications within legal requirements.
· Utilising contact opportunities with babies and their families for health education and health promotion.
· Collaborating with other agencies in determining specific service requirements and working to improve health outcomes
· Maintaining competencies in the procedures relevant to neonates
· Coordinate, lead and manage the activities of clinical environment on a day to day basis.
· To use excellent prioritising and time management skills to meet the unpredictable and conflicting needs of the service
· To develop own managerial and administrative functions in conjunction with role developments

As an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, you will be an integral part of the neonatal medical team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to neonates requiring Level 2 and Level 3 support. You will work autonomously and collaboratively with consultants, junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for neonates and their families.
• Act as a clinical leader and role model within the neonatal team.
• Support the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and audits.
• Contribute to workforce planning and rota coordination where appropriate.
• Provide mentorship and clinical supervision to junior staff, students, and trainee ANNPs.
• Deliver teaching sessions and contribute to the ongoing education of the neonatal team.
• Maintain own professional development and revalidation requirements.
• Communicate sensitively and effectively with families, providing updates and involving them in care decisions.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including midwives, obstetricians, paediatricians, and allied health professionals.
• Support families emotionally and practically, signposting to relevant services when needed.
