The Opportunity
As our Course Leader, your day-to-day focus will be on delivering and managing high-quality teaching and learning for our learners. You'll take ownership of the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that each session is engaging, relevant, and aligned with awarding body requirements. Much of your time will be spent in the classroom or training kitchen, teaching practical and theoretical elements of the curriculum and assessing our learners' progress.
You’ll be responsible for managing the full learner journey, from induction through to achievement and progression. This includes setting and monitoring individual learning plans, providing academic and pastoral support, and tracking data on attendance, retention, and success. You’ll intervene early when learners need additional support and keep accurate records to support reporting and quality processes.
Each day, you’ll coordinate and communicate with your course team to ensure consistency in delivery and standards. You’ll line manage a small group of lecturers and support staff, holding regular one-to-ones, supporting with lesson planning, and contributing to their professional development. You’ll also manage course admin, such as updating registers, uploading assessment outcomes, and preparing for internal verification.
Throughout the week, you’ll contribute to the ongoing improvement of the curriculum by reviewing schemes of work, embedding key themes like digital skills and sustainability, and helping to shape new courses or delivery models. You’ll attend departmental meetings, support quality assurance processes, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the college to ensure the course remains effective and learner focused.
This is a great opportunity to use your industry experience to lead, helping our learners progress into catering and hospitality careers. You’ll work in a supportive team with opportunities to grow, while delivering a varied mix of teaching, planning, and team coordination.
About You
For this role, we're looking for someone with a strong background in catering or hospitality who’s ready to lead and inspire our learners. You should be confident in planning and delivering high-quality lessons, with a clear understanding of industry standards and expectations.
Ideally, you’ll have teaching experience and hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. You’ll need to be organised, approachable and able to manage both the day-to-day running of the course and the performance of your team. Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate others—both learners and colleagues—are essential.
We're seeking someone who can build strong links with employers, adapt to changing curriculum needs, and support learners from all backgrounds to achieve and progress.
Closing date for applications is Sunday, 10th August 2025. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early depending on the level of interest.
