Location – 1 worker covering North Devon (Based in Barnstaple) and 1 worker covering South Devon (Based in Newton Abbot)

One of the things we learnt from our Domestic Abuse support pilot was the many and varied impacts for Children and Young People experiencing abuse, and how they were starting to show harmful behaviours, either in the family home to themselves or to others.
We offer support and intervention to those young people, through information, advice, and mentoring with a breaking the cycle programme put together here at Young Devon. We aim to help young people to understand these behaviours without shame and judgement and to find strategies to help deal with conflict and challenging feelings.
We work in partnership with Devon County Council, supporting young people, age 8-18 (up to 25 if they are a care leaver), who have experienced Domestic Abuse and this is having an impact on their behaviour in their family and other relationships.
This role gives you the opportunity to engage and work alongside young people who have experienced Domestic Abuse and who are struggling with the impact of this in their relationships. Each young person will work with a dedicated worker to identify personal goals and take steps towards positive change through tailored activities and engagement. This work may be delivered both as individual sessions or working with a group of young people.
Knowledge and experience of working with young people who have experienced domestic abuse and supporting them to set and achieve goals is essential. Training will be given as this is a specialist post.
