Summary

This Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Advisor role is to provide dedicated support to the Boston Storm Surge Barrier, and vital to the effective/efficient running of it. You will report to the Supra MEICA Team Leader and sit within the Supra MEICA Team that covers Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire and East Anglia.
The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also be responsible for monitoring the quality of maintenance and advising on the requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements. You will provide technical support to staff within the Boston Barrier team enabling them to comply with legislation, statutory requirements, British and European standards together with Environment Agency’s codes of practices, procedures and related guidance.
Key aspects of the role will include:
• Planning, management and monitoring of the MEICA programme of maintenance delivered through contractors, identifying gaps and prioritising actions.
• Assist the Boston Barrier Asset Team in delivering the Asset Management programme, acting as senior user representative on all MEICA intermittent revenue and capital projects on the Barrier.
• Assisting in the development of future reliability centred maintenance activities.
• Respond to MEICA issues and emergencies.
• Attendance at all planned barrier movements

Salary is £41,617 with an additional market forces factor tor of £9,750 for Chartered or £4,750 for Incorporated engineering status.

The team

The Supra MEICA Team provides specialist technical advice and direction to Asset Manager/Owners in relation to operational infrastructure. This includes advice on investment schemes to ensure they comply with relevant standards, best practice and energy efficiency.

They also assure compliance with electrical and mechanical internal standards and nationally recognised standards on behalf of the Responsible Officer, Asset Owner and Area Director. These activities are broken down into Asset Management, Project Support and Incident Response

Experience/skills required

Understanding of MEICA related legislation, British and European standards.
- Experience in leading or taking a lead role in safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learning to bring about improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
- Knowledge and experience of Reliability engineering, data analysis and process improvement.
- A good understanding of Asset Management and associated systems will be an advantage.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Outcome focussed. You will need to demonstrate you can deliver the required tasks.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational experience.
- Ability to influence, persuade and bring others with you.
- Technical Leadership
- Writing and reviewing technical specifications.

You will ideally be a professionally recognised mechanical or electrical engineer holding either Chartered or Incorporated status with the IMechE or IET.
