We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gardener/Chargehand (Grade 4) to join our dynamic team. As a Gardener/Chargehand, you will oversee various gardening tasks, ensuring that our landscapes are not only well-kept but also thriving. Your expertise in horticulture and landscape management will be pivotal in making informed decisions about plant care, pest management, and seasonal planting. You will also play a crucial role in training and developing your team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and collaboration. This position requires hands-on involvement in daily gardening activities, including planting, pruning, mulching, and weeding, while also managing scheduling and resource allocation. Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of gardening staff to ensure efficient operations.
Perform a variety of gardening tasks including planting, weeding, pruning, and mulching.
Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and safe to use.
Assess the health of plants and implement appropriate care practices, including pest management and fertilization.
Develop planting schedules and oversee seasonal gardening activities to enhance landscape aesthetics.
Train and mentor team members on horticultural practices and safe equipment usage.
Maintain records of maintenance activities, including planting inventories and annual growth assessments.
Requirements
Proven experience in horticulture and landscape management.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate a team.
Knowledge of plant species, gardening techniques, and pest control.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy materials.
Familiarity with gardening tools and equipment safety protocols.
A horticultural qualification or equivalent experience is preferred.
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 08:00
End Time: 16:00
Pay Per Hour: £12.59
