Summary

Payroll Officer - Part-Time (22 Hours/Week)

Location: West Midlands

Contract: Temp-Perm







Working Hours: 22 hours/week over 4 days (including Fridays)

DBS Required: Enhanced with children's barred list (or willingness to apply)

A well-established education provider in the West Midlands is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join their HR and Payroll team on a part-time, temp-permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of an in-house monthly payroll function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the end-to-end monthly payroll process in line with internal policies and audit standards
  • Accurately process various pay elements, including manual claims, mileage, and electronic submissions
  • Support with key changes including starters, leavers, bank details, and contractual amendments
  • Run initial payroll reports and liaise with managers to address discrepancies
  • Provide responsive support to staff and liaise with third parties such as HMRC and pension providers
  • Contribute to pension scheme administration (e.g. Teachers' Pensions, local government schemes)
  • Provide support for general HR/payroll administrative tasks (filing, post, shredding, etc.)
  • Assist with maintaining and improving HR/payroll systems
  • Offer short-term cover for the Payroll Supervisor when required
  • Deliver excellent internal customer service
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working within a payroll function, preferably in an education or public sector setting
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of payroll processes
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information professionally
  • Flexibility to support operational needs, especially around payroll deadlines
