The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior or Principal EC&I Engineer with extensive HV experience to provide expert technical leadership across a broad portfolio of engineering tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and performance of electrical systems in a complex, highly regulated setting.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

- Lead and coordinate EC&I engineering activities with a strong focus on HV/LV system design and integration.
- Provide technical direction across all stages of the engineering lifecycle.
- Manage and interface with internal engineering teams, external partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Produce and review technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, risk assessments, and justifications.
- Support and lead safety assessments including HAZID, HAZOP, and ALARP reviews.
- Define and validate equipment specifications for HV/LV systems (50Hz/60Hz) in demanding industrial applications.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards for EHSQ and engineering assurance.
- Lead peer reviews, internal assessments, and quality checks to ensure robust design substantiation.
- Drive lifecycle activities including commissioning planning, operational readiness, and decommissioning.
- Contribute to long-term asset integrity, obsolescence management, and system reliability initiatives.

It’s great if you also have the following

- Degree-qualified in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven leadership in HV/LV electrical system design and integration.
- Strong understanding of British and European electrical standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Extensive experience in high-hazard, regulated sectors (e.g., nuclear, defence, energy).
- Competence in producing safety justifications, technical substantiations, and risk assessments.
- Understanding of key systems including SCADA, HVAC, pumps, PAVA, and backup generation.
- Effective leadership in multi-disciplinary environments with a collaborative and proactive approach.

It's great if you also have the following

- Experience working within nuclear or defence sectors.
- Familiarity with safety case development and supporting frameworks (e.g., ALARP, HAZOP, HAZID).
- Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and classified/secure site operations.
- Relevant certifications in hazard analysis or safety case methodologies.
