Summary

Address the needs of individuals to bring about improvement in the health and well-being of children through the delivery of evidence-based care. Manages a designated group of children. Model excellent practice through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Articulate and discuss source of evidence on which care is based. Articulate the decision making process underlying the management of own and others time and the patient workload. Use available technology, childs record and parent/carers knowledge to identify changes in the condition of the child and initiate appropriate action whilst reporting changes to the appropriate individual. Able to problem solve relating to vascular access devices. Demonstrate how they have enabled child/carers to participate as partners in care activities. Initiate and develop plans for health promotion with individuals involving parents/carers and multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrate involvement with the multi-disciplinary team. Has knowledge of the needs of all children in specialist area and is able to communicate their needs to other members of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams. Recognition of organisational and clinical needs that may affect the area in which they work. Uses expert theory knowledge to enhance patient care. As an expert practitioner uses evidence based practice to enhance patient care. Provide support and advise to other nursing staff about the needs of children whose condition is thought to be unstable or deteriorating.
