Summary
To manage an agreed clinical caseload within a multidisciplinary framework, undertaking assessments using both standardised and non-standardised tools, formulating problem lists, and setting goals tailored to the acute care setting. To select and implement appropriate Occupational Therapy interventions, using a combination of rehabilitative, developmental, and compensatory techniques to help patients achieve optimal independence. To plan, prioritise, and manage your own workload effectively, including delegating tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants and supervising students, ensuring timely and effective service delivery. To prepare both individual and group clinical interventions, accurately documenting treatment outcomes and updating care or discharge plans based on clinical reasoning. To fit, adjust, and train patients in the safe use of a variety of Occupational Therapy equipment and tools, while also maintaining responsibility for their condition and appropriate usage. To undertake and organise access and home visits, advising on environmental adaptations that promote safety, functionality, and independence within the patients living space. To collaborate with patients, carers, and the wider MDT to identify and implement individualised strategies, ensuring treatment aligns with both short-term needs and long-term rehabilitation goals.
