Summary

Job Description: Electroplating Technician

Location: Hayes
Schedule: Full-time, 4 on / 4 off shift pattern

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electroplating Technician to join Lufthansa Technik Landing Geat Services in Hayes. This role involves working within a regulated environment, supporting surface treatment processes, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards. Full training on our Integrated Quality Management System (IQ Move) will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate in accordance with the Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services Integrated Quality Management System (IQ Move)
  • Interpret and follow process standards, technical drawings, and company job cards
  • Handle materials using workshop gantry cranes and slings
  • Prepare components for electroplating, including masking techniques
  • Perform surface preparation using grit blasting (experience preferred but not essential)
  • Carry out a range of electroplating processes, including:
    • Cadmium and Dalic Cadmium plating
    • Nickel plating
    • Hard chrome plating
    • Alocrom treatment
    • Nital etch (acid etch inspection)
    • Heat treatment of components
  • Complete all work to technical specifications and quality standards
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations
  • Maintain awareness of environmental considerations within the electroplating industry
  • Keep a Practical Experience Record (PER) of completed tasks
  • Support training of colleagues in specific areas, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably requested by your line manager
Education & Qualifications
  • Minimum of GCSE-level education or equivalent
  • Training from the Institute of Metal Finishing (IMF) is advantageous but not essential
Experience & Knowledge
  • Previous experience in a plating shop environment
  • Basic understanding of electroplating processes and procedures
  • Experience working in an EASA Part 145 regulated environment is desirable
  • Familiarity with COMAH regulations is beneficial (training will be provided)

  • Strong team player with effective communication skills across all levels
  • Eager to learn and develop new skills
  • Moderate level of computer literacy
