About the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
to join a nurturing and inclusive school in the beautiful Forest of Dean. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional needs.
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials tailored to individual needs.
- Support pupils in developing independence, confidence, and social skills.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children with SEN (in a school or care setting).
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
