Summary
This is a Part-Time /Flexible Working Hours Position.
Based on 3 days a week, 2 in the workshop - (Mon/Tue or Tue/Wed)and 1 out on the road (usually Thursday)
No experience or qualifications are necessary, however the summary below will give an indication of skills which will highlight the suitability of the role for the candidate.
Main duties will include:
Cleaning and preparing leather
Applying colour and finishes to leather
Assisting workshop manager wherever required
Maintaining and tidying workshop
Maintaining leather technician equipment i.e spray guns etc
Lifting and moving furniture within workshop
Collecting and delivering furniture to and from customers homes (with another member of staff)
Stripping covers from furniture
Measuring/ordering and replacing foam interiors to furniture
Re-webbing and fitting dust sheets to furniture seat bases
Fitting feet to furniture
Wrapping furniture for deliveries
Attributes required:
This role has a level of creativity, therefore a good eye for colour and attention to detail will help - eventually you will learn to colour match by eye.
The role will suit candidates who enjoy practical, hands on work. Some experience in use of hardware tools such as hammers, drills, staple guns etc, along with any experience in woodwork would also be useful as this will go hand in hand with some wood frame repairs carried out in our workshop.
As a small business we rely heavily on team-work and a good work ethic. We often have deadlines to meet so the ability to work well under pressure is valuable. We have a small working environment so an individual with a strong sense of team-work and the ability to take instruction from others will be best suited to this role. The role is for a physically manual job & will be quite varied, each day is different.
This role will entail heavy lifting so is physically demanding at times. Due to lifting and shifting of furniture in the workshop and onsite will require a level of Health and safety and Risk Assessment awareness.
As the role will have a customer facing aspect and ordering/liaising with suppliers, we would expect the applicant to be well presented with a friendly manner, have good communication skills and a good understanding of the English language.
Additional Duties:
Have the ability to drive a LWB sprinter van and be confident driving on routes throughout the South East including in and around London.
Sat Nav is provided and there will usually be a helper to assist with large furniture collections and deliveries.
You must be physically strong and fit. The role involves not just lifting but manoeuvring (sometimes very heavy) furniture in and out of customers homes, potentially up flights of stairs. It is very physically demanding.
Must be a smart, presentable and personable candidate as this is a customer facing role. You are representing our company and we would expect you to uphold our reputation at all times with a pleasant and polite manner. There will be a code of conduct to follow and uniform provided.
Being able to take instruction from the office and workshop staff, working under pressure is key to this role given the nature of the job as there are deadlines and demands to meet by the customer.
A good level of English language and good communications skills is essential as this role is highly customer facing and there is an aspect of liaising with the customer about the restoration which has been carried out and conveying any concerns back to the office whilst in customers homes/premises.
Minimal admin is required but it is essential to be able to deal with ie reading and understanding diary sheets and writing out delivery forms.
