Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Consultant Nurse to join the Urgent & Emergency Care (UEC) team at Newham Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a key leadership role designed for a senior nursing professional with significant experience in emergency care, a strong academic and clinical practice background, and a passion for improving care delivery at pace and scale.

As Consultant Nurse, you will lead the development of clinical standards and the advancement of nursing practice across the UEC pathway, spanning the Emergency Department (ED), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). You will provide strategic and clinical leadership to embed safe, evidence-based, person-centered care across all aspects of the service.

Informal discussion regarding role is welcomed

In this role, the successful candidate will:
• Lead and innovate in advanced clinical practice, working autonomously for an agreed proportion of clinical sessions based on service need
• Design, implement and evaluate education and training programmes to support workforce development across UEC, including advanced practice roles
• Actively contribute to the UEC research agenda, driving improvement through audit, innovation and academic partnership
• Act as a visible role model, change agent and expert practitioner, working collaboratively with senior nursing team, consultants, operational leaders and system partners
• Support and influence the implementation of national priorities, local transformation initiatives, and new models of care to improve quality, flow, outcomes and patient experience

This is an ideal post for a dynamic, experienced nurse leader ready to shape the future of UEC delivery in one of the most diverse and vibrant areas of London.
