Summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the Information Governance Team at Staffordshire County Council at an exciting time of information management. With the emergence of AI technology and the implications on privacy, the introduction of the new Data (Use and Access) Act and its impact on UK-GDPR and Local Government Reform, the team will be instrumental in supporting the Council in navigating these developments. The role has a competitive salary and offers flexible and hybrid working.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for you to be a motivated individual, who is experienced in information governance and records management, to play an integral role in the implementation of our Information Management Strategy and be involved in our programme of work migrating to M365.

The role will include some of the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting and advising service areas with data protection and cyber security compliance
  • Providing training and awareness across the organisation
  • Drafting and reviewing data sharing and data processor agreements
  • Managing information security breaches
  • Supporting a network of Information Asset Owners and maintaining the Information Asset Register
  • Identifying, reporting and managing information risks
  • Championing a culture of good data protection and cyber security practices
  • Proactively keeping up to date with changes in the law, codes of practice and guidance


The Ideal Candidate

This is a varied role which involves supporting all service areas across the organisation, providing guidance, support and advice regarding information management.

It would suit an individual with a Law degree and/or an Information Management qualification (data protection, cyber security, records management).

It will require an organised and enthusiastic individual who is confident providing expert advice and policy development. Someone who can articulate themselves clearly verbally and in writing.
