What you'll be working:

Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

What you'll be doing:


As a Band 5 SLT, you will:

  • Deliver assessment and 1:1 and group intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties arising from neurological conditions.
  • Manage your own caseload with supervision and develop skills in managing a range of conditions, which may include aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication disorder, and dysphagia (with appropriate training).
  • Ensure that patient care is safe, effective, evidence-based, and in line with national guidelines.
  • Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, including contributing to goal-setting, therapy planning, and meetings.
  • Provide education and training to families, carers, and members of the team.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to measurement of outcomes.
  • Participate in supervision and training opportunities.
  • Engage in service development, audits, and research initiatives as appropriate.

This is a developmental role with opportunities for progression, supervision, and mentoring. You will work closely with senior members of the SLT team and benefit from regular learning opportunities as well as CPD.

What you'll have:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • RCSLT membership
  • Knowledge/experience from placements or previous work in neurological settings, particularly around managing acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills
  • A passion for working with adults with acquired/traumatic brain injury
  • A willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS

Desirable:

  • Awareness of key SLT assessment tools (e.g., Frenchay, Comprehensive Aphasia Test, etc).
  • Experience with AAC and supported communication approaches.
