About the role - SEMH Teaching Assistant (Graduate Position)
Location: King's Lynn, Norfolk
Salary: £14 - £16 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30
Start Date: September 2025
This is a graduate entry role, ideal for those with a background in Psychology, Education, Child Development or a related subject, looking to gain hands-on experience in a specialist educational setting. You'll work in a supportive school that tailors education to meet each child's unique needs.

Your responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Support students with SEMH needs and additional challenges both academically and emotionally
Build positive and trusting relationships to help young people regulate emotions and feel safe
Assist teachers with personalised lesson plans and interventions
Promote positive behaviour strategies and help reduce the need for physical interventions
Work with therapists, teachers and specialists to ensure every child receives consistent, thoughtful care
What we're looking for:
A recent degree in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences or a related field
A genuine interest in working with children who experience emotional or behavioural challenges
Patience, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Experience working or volunteering with children is a bonus but not essential
A commitment to learning, reflection and professional growth
