Role Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join our Public Health team. You will carry out the day to day functions and duties of the team, responding to service requests and ensuring compliance with public health legislation throughout the Scottish Borders.

As an excellent communicator, you will have the skills and ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders including members of the public, businesses, Councillors, Officers at all levels and other agencies. You will need a pragmatic “can do” attitude and be empathetic and supportive but also demonstrate a robust approach to enforcement when required.

You will be committed to providing excellent customer service and be able to deal with challenging situations calmly and effectively to achieve positive outcomes.

The Scottish Borders is equidistant between Edinburgh and Newcastle, and has an excellent rail ink to Edinburgh and south from Berwick Upon Tweed and Carlisle. The Scottish Borders offers multiple opporunities for outdoor activies, in particular cycling and walking.

Essential

Degree / MSc in Environmental Health
Diploma in Environmental Health (REHIS) or equivalent
Participation in Continual Professional Development

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
