Summary


We are looking for a confident and motivated Team Leader to join us on the Coronary Care Unit. We are a sixteen/seventeen bedded unit on the Bedford Site.

You will need to be a good role model and provide supervision to nursing staff and students under the guidance of the Ward Manager.

You will be required to host MDTs and ward rounds with the cardiology team as well as attend regular meetings both in person and via Teams, and attend management meetings in the absence of the ward manager.

You will be assessing care needs and developing/implementing/evaluating programmes of care for cardiac patients.

You will also require the relevant skills to confidently communicate with other members of the team including consultants, colleagues, patients, relatives and other departments.

The purpose of your job is to work in conjunction with the cardiology team to deliver high quality nursing care to cardiac patients. The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care. The care delivered is individualised and research based optimising the effectiveness at all times for every cardiac illness. Support the ward manager with management duties, these may include staff mandatory training compliance, staff sickness management, attending regular meetings, dealing with any complaints, roster planning, investigating incidents and by being an excellent role model to junior colleagues.

• To be a role model and provide supervision of nursing staff under the guidance of the ward manager.
• To assess patients with cardiac sounding chest pain in A&E in the absence of the outreach nurse and transfer to Papworth for primary PCI when appropriate.
• Assessment of care needs and developing/implementing/evaluating programmes of care for cardiac patients.
• Ensure secondary medications are prescribed correctly to all cardiac patients
• To be up to date with all Statutory training includingILS/ALS
• To be able to interpret ECGs and recommend treatment for the patient accordingly.
