Summary

We are recruiting a Lead Worker (For Young People) at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 25 hours
Contract Type: Part time, Fixed Term until March 2026
Location: Virginia Park Youth Centre

Team: Youth Service


This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £20,647.97 - £22,544.59 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The post holder will work directly with young people to support their overall well-being, offering guidance and practical assistance to help them navigate challenges in their lives.



A key focus of the role is to prevent homelessness by identifying risks early and providing timely interventions. This includes building trusting relationships, offering emotional support, and connecting young people with appropriate services.



The post holder will also encourage and facilitate engagement in education, employment, and training opportunities, helping young people to build skills, confidence, and independence. Collaboration with other professionals and agencies will be essential to ensure holistic and effective support.



For the role, we ask that you have:

A relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example Youth and Community Work, Community Development, Criminal Justice, Early Years, Education, Teaching, Social Work.
A willingness to achieve a Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales in Youth and Community Work and EWC registration within a timeframe to be agreed with your line manager following appointment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on listening, empathising and problem solving.
Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle (people carrier) and transport young people and colleagues on a regular basis.
