As a growing organisation we have a fantastic opportunity for dedicated individuals to join us. This role will offer you the opportunity to work within the Defence Land Systems Regulator (DLSR) which independently regulates safety and environmental protection for the acquisition, management and operation of ground-based vehicles and equipment used across the entire Defence portfolio. These could range from robotic autonomous vehicles, a main battle tank, a flight simulator or even a secret communications system. The work undertaken by the DLSR team is interesting and exciting, no two days will be the same and you will be encouraged to immerse yourself in a mixture of wide-ranging tasks, using your natural curiosity, developed communication and analytical skills to engage with partners across Defence.
Core Responsibilities:
Supporting Subject Matter Experts from the internal and external stakeholder environment on the use of Derogations, Exemptions and Disapplications (DEDs) in the Land Domain.
Maintaining close engagement with Defence Organisation: Accountable Persons; Senior Responsible Officers; Equipment Project Teams; Subject Matter Experts; Technical Authorities and civilian authorities as required on matters associated with the applicability and use of DEDs in the Land Domain.
Providing SME and technical regulatory advice and guidance on Land Systems / Land Domain matters as required, including technical support on systems requiring use of DEDs.
Supporting Regulation Standards Cell with the Regulations and Standards, including alignment to National and International legislation and Directives, NATO and other Standards which may affect Defence, including the conduct of effective analysis to determine where gaps in regulation exist.
Supporting the production of the DLSR Annual Assurance Report.
Supporting or representing the Legislation Senior Executive Officer on engagement with Other Governments Departments, DSA Regulators, including deputising / representing DLSR on the DSA Working Groups as required.
Providing support to the Secretariat for the DLSR Exemption Committee, responsible for making sure all relevant submissions are processed, and all reports and subsequent actions are completed and communicated within required timelines. Providing legal advice on the deviations from law and for analysing any supporting trials results that impact on safety or environmental protection.
