Are you looking for an exciting new role in the public sector? We have a fantastic opportunity for an Admin Officer to join our client, Snaresbrook Crown Court, an agency of the Ministry of Justice.
Role Overview:
- Position: Admin Officer
- Duration: till February 2026 (with potential for extension)
- Pay: £14.75 x 37 hours per week Mon-Fri
- Agency: temp contract via Brook Street
Snaresbrook Crown Court handles some of the most serious criminal cases. As an Admin Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the court.
Key Responsibilities:
working in the Admin team, you will support with the following duties
Court System Management: Operate and manage court systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with procedures. Review newly committed cases to identify vulnerabilities such as youth status, mental health concerns, or custody, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
General Administration: Handle day-to-day administrative tasks including counter inquiries, telephone calls, emails, and filing. Provide support at the public counter and assist courtrooms during live sittings when administrative help is required.
Processing Court Orders: Liaise with court parties and process court orders accurately and efficiently. Tasks also include creating digital case files for new Crown Court cases and processing related documentation such as bail applications, bail variations, certificates of conviction, and acquittals.
Document Management: Scan documents, transfer files, and upload them to electronic systems and databases.
Communication: Liaise effectively with members of the judiciary and other court personnel, as well as Counsel, defendants, barristers, media, and members of the public-both in person and via phone or email.
Court Scheduling & Document Handling: Schedule and serve court documents, execute warrants, manage fines and fees (including chip-and-pin transactions), and list sentencing hearings.
Ad-Hoc Duties: Complete additional administrative tasks as directed by senior staff and contribute to the smooth handling of all new case files within the admin team.
Skills & Experience Required:
- IT Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of IT systems, with an emphasis on Excel and court-related
- software.
- Detailed oriented individual with a capacity to meet daily workload targets consistently
- Organisational Skills: Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication both via telephone, email, and face-to-face.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and use initiative to complete tasks without supervision.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is critical in all administrative tasks and court-related processes.
- Professionalism: A strong, proactive attitude and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
Additional Information:
- This role is office-based; remote working is not an option.
