TeacherActive is proud to be working on behalf of a truly inspiring specialist school on the Wirral, and we’re looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their fantastic team.

This school caters for children and young people aged 11–19 with a wide range of special educational needs, including complex learning difficulties, Autism, and physical and sensory impairments. Known for its strong sense of community, the school is committed to nurturing every learner through personalised support, a flexible curriculum, and a focus on communication, life skills, and independence.

The staff here work as a close-knit team to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students across a range of ages and needs. You’ll assist both in the classroom and during practical, real-life learning activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups with tailored learning activities


  • Assisting learners with SEN, including Autism, complex needs, and sensory impairments


  • Promoting independence, communication, and self-confidence


  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff


  • Administering personal care, when required, in a respectful and supportive manner


    Who We’re Looking For:
    • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential


    • Comfortable supporting with personal care (or willing to be trained)


    • A calm, caring, and patient approach


    • A flexible team player who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment


    • Committed to promoting safeguarding and the wellbeing of all learners
