Summary
FJA are recruiting for an experienced and strategic Supply Chain Manager on behalf of our client based in the Preston area. As part of their Business Operations department, you will be integral in managing all aspects of Procurement, adhering to current policies and processes as well as creating and implementing your own.

Supply Chain Manager role:
• The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, managing tender processes, overseeing procurement activities, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing in line with company objectives and budget targets. They will lead and develop all procurement policies and procedures, ensuring best value and timely supply across a wide range of business areas.
Supply Chain Manager responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and budgets
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
• Lead contract negotiations, including terms and pricing
• Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all suppliers
Procurement Operations
• Manage end-to-end procurement processes from requisition to payment
• Ensure timely and accurate purchasing of goods and services
• Coordinate with inventory teams and utilise procurement systems to optimise operations
• Liaise with Heads of Department throughout the business across various sites
Cost Control and Budget Management
• Monitor procurement budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness
• Analyse spending trends and identify savings opportunities
• Produce performance and cost analysis reports
Compliance, Risk, and Sustainability
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards, collaborating with the in-house Legal team
• Promote environmentally sustainable procurement and enforce supplier adherence to sustainability policies
• Manage procurement and supplier risks, maintaining accurate documentation
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
• Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems
• Stay informed on market trends and implement ethical, sustainable sourcing practices
• Suggest areas for improvement and work to implement these
Supply Chain Manager requirements:
• Recognised qualification in procurement, supply chain management, business administration would be advantageous, or equivalent experience
• Proven procurement or supply chain expertise, ideally in a systems-based role
• Experience developing and improving organisation-wide procurement policies
• Strong influencing skills with the ability to identify and drive process improvements
• Experience setting up efficient supply chain management process
• Understanding of contract terms, including negotiation strategies, service levels, exit clauses, and adjustments
Skills and attributes:
• Strong negotiation and contract management expertise
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and related applications
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities
• Skilled in training others on systems, processes, and best practices
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to secure buy-in from senior stakeholders
• Confident in reporting and delivering clear, impactful presentations
• Proactive and driven with a high level of self-motivation
• Strong attention to detail and highly organised
• Strategic thinker who can align their supply chain with business objectives
