What might a typical day look like?
As you’ll be joining a small close-knit team, there’ll be lots to get involved with. However, the main responsibilities of this role will lie within the design and estimation of mechanical services. Some of the things you might get up to in a typical day could include;
Designing heating, plumbing and HVAC systems ranging from retail outlets to multi bedroomed care facilities
Catching up with the team and finding out if there is anything urgent project wise that you might need to help with
Working with CAD drawings, putting together layouts, adding annotations, integrating line sketches into drawings
Pulling together estimations for mechanical services and preparing tender submissions
Maintaining SoR pricing on templates to ensure they are up to date and accurate
Identifying any potential clashes on CAD drawings, and coordinating with the team to ensure the projects run smoothly
This is just a brief list of what you might be getting up to in this role, we can provide a more detailed job description further into the recruitment process. But at this stage we are just looking for someone who is keen to join a small team, willing to learn with a passion for MEP design and estimation.
Who might be an ideal candidate?
Whilst having experience using CAD would be a plus, we are open to talking to candidates who are quick to pick up new systems, however what isn’t negotiable is that you must be competent with MS Excel. Spreadsheets and the manipulation of the same are a key element of this role!
This role might be for you if...
You’re a recent graduate with studies in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering, who might have completed a placement in a mechanical based role
You're already working within the industry but looking for a close-knit team as opposed to being one of hundreds
You have some engineering or mechanical experience, and you’re just starting out in the MEP field
This is a full-time office-based position, the working hours can either be 7.30am-4.30pm, or 8.30am - 5.30pm.
So, if this sounds like something you would be interested in, we welcome your application!
