An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Paramedic Science team within the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. You will play an essential role in the delivery of our educational programmes.

Why join the team?
We are an enthusiastic team of academics with specialist clinical, educational and research interests. We have three exciting programmes delivered by the team including BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science, MSc (Pre-Registration) Paramedic Science and MSc Advanced Paramedic Practice.

These programmes offer a diverse teaching experience to cohorts of bright and promising students who will benefit from your knowledge and clinical skills. We have recently merged with the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (HML) and the university is due to open a Medical School for intake in 2026. A new, state of the art building including simulation spaces and versatile classrooms where Paramedic Science will be housed will be open in 2028. The team are research active, clinically active and are excited to welcome new team members who share the same passion for excellence.

Main duties and responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced HCPC registered paramedic. You will be responsible for the teaching and assessment of undergraduate/postgraduate paramedic students at the University. You will utilise the current evidence-base to underpin teaching and learning activities. You may participate in development and reviews of programmes including inter-professional developments across the School and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum developments; including development, delivery and teaching on short courses, modules and programmes.

You will contribute to the administration of the School by undertaking additional roles, such as being a module lead and joining teams involved in activities such as admissions, timetabling or pastoral support. You will also be expected to undertake and contribute to paramedic research.
You will liaise with and maintain good relationships with colleagues across the School and University.

Skills and experience required
You will be an experienced practising paramedic with the HCPC with recent academic and/or clinical experience in the UK. You will have a breadth of relevant paramedic practice.
You will demonstrate a sustained interest and knowledge of contemporary paramedic practice. It is essential that you have good oral and written communication skills and be proficient in the English language. You will demonstrate a willingness to undertake paramedic research and are able to work effectively as part of a team. You will be able to work without close supervision, be organised, take initiative and be self-motivating, and be adaptable to change and flexible in your approach. Being willing to contribute to inter-professional teaching and learning activities, with an interest in evidence-based healthcare, is key.

Qualifications required
The successful applicant will hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree(or equivalent level 6 qualification) in Paramedic Science or equivalent. You should hold a master’s degree (or equivalent level 7 qualification) in a relevant subject, or be working towards such a qualification. It is essential that you are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council or as a Paramedic.
