Please note that this is a fixed term contract until 15th January 2027Please note that there are x2 positions available for this role.Working hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week (Rota Includes weekend, evenings, nights)Interview Date: To be confirmedOne of the UK’s most inspiring and best known faith-based organisations, The Salvation Army, is looking for an empathetic Referrals Officer to play an important referrals response role as part of a vital new contract.Key Responsibilities:The Salvation Army has been appointed to the Government’s new Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract to manage the support of adult victims of modern slavery in England and Wales. Through this new and extended contract, which runs for an initial five-year period, we and our specialist partners can build on expertise developed from helping more than 12,000 adult victims of modern slavery and human trafficking since July 2011Responding to referrals by First Responders to our free, confidential 24 hour Modern Slavery Referral Line in order to support adult potential victims of modern slavery is the challenge that awaits you here. Indeed, we’ll count on you to use your knowledge, skills and experience to accurately assess eligibility for support and undertake safeguarding risk and needs-based assessments on a case by case basis. Liaising with relevant interested parties to identify safe and appropriate initial, and subsequent, placements in England and Wales and manage all aspects of each referral in line with operational guidance and procedures will be important too. And, when it comes to completing client records and other relevant service documentation, maintain a case management system or providing cover for the Contracts Administrator, again, we’ll rely on you to deliver.You will need:Experience of receiving and assessing referrals by telephone and face-to-face, with the aid of an interpreter where necessary, with similar client groups in a trauma informed contextEmpathy with issues that relate to asylum, homelessness, substance misuse, mental health and general vulnerability and an interest in alleviating and supporting the distress caused to victimsAn understanding of needs based and risk assessments, good administrative skills, proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and a Case Management System or databaseThe ability to remain calm under pressure, lots of self-motivation and the ability to work enthusiastically as part of a teamA flair for developing and maintaining effective partnership working with sub-contractors, volunteers and other relevant stakeholders Outstanding time management skills, a proven ability to multi-task and a willingness to participate in a 24/7 shift rota to include weekends and Bank Holidays and travel within England and WalesIn order to complete your application please download and read the job profile and any other attachments.In the job profile you will find the criteria required for the role please make sure that you address this in your supporting statement as this forms the basis of our shortlisting.Appointment subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK and Enhanced DBS Disclosure for the adult workforce For details of how to prove your right to work in the UK please click here and please note that we are unable to offer sponsorship.
