Summary

Shape the architecture of a connected and future-ready university

We’re recruiting a visionary Head of Digital Solutions to lead the technical architecture and design of Canterbury Christ Church University’s digital platforms, systems and infrastructure.

This role is at the heart of how we modernise, integrate and future-proof the university’s digital environment, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with both service design and institutional strategy.

You’ll lead two core capability areas:

A Digital Solutions Team Leader managing engineers across network, platform, applications, data and integration, and monitoring
A team of Digital Solutions Architects specialising in data, estates infrastructure, end user computing, platform and application, integration, and network

You’ll work closely with the Digital Design team to ensure solutions are shaped around user experience and service outcomes, and with Digital Service Delivery, Digital Operations, Products and Digital Risk & Security to bring consistency, innovation and resilience across our estate. You’ll also be a key member of the Service Design Authority, influencing digital investment and future planning.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can balance architectural thinking with delivery, governance with innovation, and transformation with pragmatism.

We’re looking for:

Significant experience in digital and solution architecture, systems integration and enterprise platforms
A people-first leader who can inspire high-performing engineers and architects
A strong grasp of data strategy, interoperability, technical risk, and infrastructure modernisation
Experience aligning digital design, delivery and governance in a large organisation

Flexible & Connected Working

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year, but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus, but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.
