Summary
An exciting opportunity have arisen within our Housing Management team for the role of Neighbourhood Coordinator on a part time basis, working 18 hours, 2.5 days per week. 8.30-5pm Mon & Tues and 8.30 -12.30 on a Friday.
Our Neighbourhood Coordinators play a vital role in shaping the services we deliver at Gentoo, working closely with our communities to make a real difference every day. You’ll be assigned an area ‘patch’ within the City of Sunderland to support, so being able to travel within the area is important. A UK driving licence is essential, and having access to a vehicle is highly desirable, we’ll reimburse business mileage to support your travel needs.
We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about making a difference—someone who takes a hands-on approach to supporting customers with their tenancies and enhancing neighbourhoods for everyone. As a Neighbourhood Coordinator, you’ll be out and about in your allocated area ‘patch’, building strong relationships and promoting sustainable tenancies through meaningful engagement with local communities.
The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.
Key responsibilities will include:
Allocate empty homes in a fair and transparent way, considering the housing need and aspirations of customers and potential customers.
Manage a neighbourhood to create sustainable communities and places where people want to live. It involves effective estate management, dealing with anti-social behaviour and all aspects of tenancy management.
Support our customers to manage their rent payments, maximise their income and work with partners for those in financial difficulty, to minimise arrears and maximise rent collection.
Engage with the wider community and relevant community groups for the benefit of customers and their environment.
Work in partnership with other agencies to provide solutions for complex vulnerable customers and housing issues.
Support customers to give feedback in a clear and accessible way in line with Gentoo’s complaints policy.
Accountability for achieving relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) and demonstrating professional and positive behaviours within the workplace.
Collaborate with the Customer Voice team to maximise customer and resident involvement enabling opportunities for customers to influence and be involved.
Treat all customers with respect, warmth and compassion in every interaction, applying discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
What we are looking for:
A full UK drivers’ licence is essential, access to a vehicle is highly desirable.
A detailed understanding of housing issues, policies and procedures, including Regulatory Standards and Tenant Satisfaction Measures.
An understanding of the current issues surrounding social housing and how these affect our customers' lives and needs.
Adaptable to meet the travel requirements of the post with the needs of the business, including working remotely or from any of the Group’s offices.
Highly developed communication, negotiation and mediation and active listening skills
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and external partner agencies while working as an integral part of a team are essential.
Demonstrable administration skills including knowledge of Microsoft packages and inhouse systems with proven ability to interpret data, effectively plan workload, adapt to changing priorities, and meet targets and deadlines
