A Level Physics Lecturer - East London

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded further education college in East London for an experienced and enthusiastic A Level Physics Lecturer. This full-time, temporary role starts in September 2025 and offers a chance to teach motivated students in a supportive and well-equipped academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching of A Level Physics, following AQA or equivalent exam board specifications
  • Teach key topics such as mechanics, electricity, waves, thermodynamics, nuclear physics, and quantum phenomena
  • Develop lesson plans, resources, and schemes of work that support both theoretical and practical understanding
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and final exams, including practical endorsement elements
  • Use a range of teaching methods, including digital tools, to accommodate different learning styles
  • Provide clear, timely feedback and monitor student progress to ensure academic success
  • Support students in university applications, including academic references and subject guidance
  • Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, quality assurance, and curriculum review activities
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed) or willingness to achieve one
  • A degree in Physics or a closely related subject (e.g., Engineering, Astrophysics)
  • Experience teaching A Level Physics in a post-16 or FE setting
  • In-depth knowledge of the current physics curriculum and practical requirements
  • Excellent communication, planning, and classroom management skills
  • A learner-centred approach with the ability to motivate students of varied abilities
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms such as Teams, Moodle, or Google Classroom
  • Experience delivering enrichment or STEM-related extracurricular activities
  • Understanding of university admissions processes and student progression pathways
