The Division of Clinical Medicine is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Apprentice Technician. You will provide high quality technical support to staff and students within the Division, with the aim to obtain the "National Apprenticeship Standard
- Laboratory Technician Level 3" qualification. You will primarily be based in the Medical School. You will also spend one day each week at Barnsley College for the educational component of the apprenticeship.Our Division is part of the School of Medicine and Population Health and brings together a wide range of research and teaching strengths in pre-clinical, clinical and translational medicine. The Division is actively building a strong forward looking and sustainable strategy with the aspiration to have sustainable, internationally excellent teaching and research in our research areas of interest, which include Oncology, Cardiopulmonary Diseases, Infection and Inflammation, Musculoskeletal and Endocrinology research. We are a vibrant, successful Division with strong partnerships with other Universities, industry, pharma, NHS Trusts and patients and we have a strong ethos of achieving success through collaboration with a renewed internal culture of excellence, openness and drive amongst research and academic staff, contributing to research and teaching successes.
The successful candidate will be joining the Division’s core technical support team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for supporting laboratory-based activities, contributing to the Division's research and teaching objectives and priorities. You will be providing general support with housekeeping, area maintenance and stock management, as well as supporting and upskilling in laboratory techniques. In addition, 20% of your time will be dedicated to off-the-job training through Barnsley College.
