AK Teaching are seeking Behaviour Support Workers to support young children aged 4-16 with a range of needs, including Autism and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Gateshead.
This role involves working closely with a small group of students who may find it difficult to engage in a traditional classroom setting. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, adaptable, and resilient, with experience in fast-paced environments and a strong commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.
What you will be be doing:
- Providing 1:1 or small group behaviour support for pupils struggling with regulation
- Being a consistent, encouraging adult pupils can rely on day to day
- Helping students build trust, resilience, and emotional confidence
- Supporting the class teacher in creating a structured, calm learning environment
Requirements:
• Experience working in an SEMH or similar environment
• Patience, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive impact
• A desire for a long-term role with the potential for permanent employment
