Summary

Job Description

To accompany young persons, who have additional support needs, to and from school or alternative Education setting, providing adequate supervision and ensuring that a high degree of care and health and safety is maintained at all times.

Requirements

Assisting young persons on and off the vehicle.

Supervising young persons on board the vehicle to maintain care, discipline and high standards of health and safety.

Ensuring the personal health and safety of each young person while on board the vehicle.

Liaising with Head Teachers/parents/guardians.

The Individual

Experience of working with children and young people.

Effective literacy and numberic skills for accurate recording.

Self confidence and self motivated.

Strong customer care skills.

Ability to follow routines and take instruction.

Ability to keep order and discipline.

Ability to work as part of an effective team.

Ability to relate positively to children, their parents/carers and school staff.

Willingness to undertake further training as required.

Flexible and adaptable.

Active listening and observational skills for effective communication with young people, parents and school staff.

Able to assist in and/or carry out certain lifting tasks associated with the care of dependent young people in accordance with moving and handling regulations
