About you
Greater Manchester has a history of doing things differently, of innovation and pioneering new ways of doing things. We believe that involving people in our work leads to better decisions and outcomes. We want to involve people from right across the city-region in the work we do and the direction we take. In addition, we would love to hear from you if you are an enthusiastic, confident and a supportive team player, whilst having the ability to work independently. About us
Greater Manchester is one of the country's most successful city-regions. Home to more than 2.7 million people and with an economy bigger than that of Wales or Northern Ireland, our vision is to make it one of the best in the world to grow up, get on and grow old. In 2017 Greater Manchester elected a Mayor who, along with the GMCA, has additional powers and responsibilities devolved from the Government. We have recently launched a new Greater Manchester Strategy, which sets out the direction and ambition for the next 10 years.
Working closely with the ten Greater Manchester Councils that make up the GMCA, this gives local people more control over issues such as health and social care, housing, transport, work and skills, and attracting investment into the city-region.
As an employer, the GMCA is made up of a number of key Greater Manchester strategic functions and commissioners including the Office of the Mayor of Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), Safer Stronger Communities, Live Well, Housing First, and the Manchester Baccalaureate.
We value the diversity of our employees and aim to recruit a workforce which reflects our diverse communities across Greater Manchester. The GMCA is an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all suitable qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances. We have guidance in place to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process, including the consideration of reasonable adjustments for people who have a disability.
