Summary
Management Accountant and Tutor
Department(s): Finance and Curriculum Support
Reports To: College Executive Finance Director
Contract Type: 15 hours a week, worked flexibly, Permanent Are you a qualified or part-qualified accountant who’s not only brilliant with numbers, but also passionate about sharing your knowledge?
This is not your average finance job. We’d love you join us and take on a vital dual role that blends strategic financial management with occasional practical skills tutoring.
As our Management Accountant, you'll work closely with the Executive Finance Director to ensure the college’s financial health—preparing detailed monthly accounts, forecasts, and analysis that drive key decisions. You'll be at the heart of financial strategy, reporting, and internal accountability.
As an occasional student Tutor, you'll deliver dynamic and engaging small-group accountancy sessions to 16–19-year-olds. You’ll spark curiosity about budgeting, finance, and future careers—all while grounding lessons in real-world financial insight from your day-to-day work.
This is a chance to contribute directly to both our operational success and our students’ futures.
You don't need teaching experience or a teaching qualification. While some tutors pursue teaching certifications, this is not required to begin your career as an accountancy educator. Connecting and empathising with learners is far more critical than prior teaching experience.
In terms of personal attributes, we are looking for someone with a professional attitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems in a creative, resourceful and pragmatic way. You must be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We need you to be adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. And most of all we are looking for someone who is approachable – with a positive attitude and willingness to step in to help colleagues.
Not sure you meet all the requirements? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of other underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs if they think they may not meet every qualification, when in fact they often do. At St Brendan’s we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply.
We ensure that all hiring decisions are made without regard to age, race, national origin, sex, disability, gender, gender identity, religion, or any other protected characteristics, and treat all applications with the strictest confidence. We’re always open to hearing how we can support flexible working in different ways, including part-time work. Please don’t be afraid to ask about what we can do to support your needs. All requests will be carefully and fairly considered and we wish you every success in your application.
Based on the quality and quantity of applications received, we may shortlist, interview or close this vacancy sooner than the specified closing date. Therefore, early applications are encouraged. Department(s): Finance and Curriculum Support
