Quantity Surveyor Opportunity
My client is a Tier 1 Housebuilder building quality homes nationwide with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Due to a significant increase in key projects, the company is now looking for a driven Quantity Surveyor to join their South Midlands based Commercial Team to support a variety of residential developments. Reporting to the Senior QS/Commercial manager, you'll be responsible for managing costs and securing the financial success of projects.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for:
- Preparing and managing detailed cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for residential projects
- Managing procurement processes and negotiating subcontractor and supplier contracts
- Identifying and mitigating financial risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to control costs.
- Attending key meetings to offer commercial guidance and support project decisions.
- Working with internal teams and subcontractors on payments, valuations, and post-completion costs.
- Maintaining accurate cost records and regular reporting to support forecasting and future project planning.
Quantity Surveyor Requirements:
- HNC minimum qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction or equivalent
- Residential /housebuilder experience with a solid understanding of market conditions and rates.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management.
- Good IT skills and proficient with COINs and other relevant software
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to reconcile any potential cost disputes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
Other desirable skills include:
- HND or higher qualification in the relevant field would be desirable
- MCIOB or RICS membership or willingness to acquire it.
- National House builder experience
