Summary

Ward H2 is a 25 bedded unit, built up of 3 bays and 13 side rooms. H2 provides care to patients requiring all respiratory care needs. Specialising in Non Invasive Ventilation, Chest drains, CPAP, and Tracheostomy care.

We have a close working relationship with our wider teams, working alongside the Consultants, specialist nurses and the NIV outreach team. Gaining additional bespoke respiratory skills, including ear lobe blood gas training, chest drain management and venepuncture and cannulation.

You will be a Qualified Nurse with experience in a acute setting with an interest in Respiratory medicine. You will also be able to demonstrate high standards of care which is achieved through evidence based practice.

Some Respiratory experience would be desirable but not essential as you will be supported to develop your skills through our in-house competencies and study days which are supported by our own Respiratory clinicians, and our Emergency Medicine clinicians, you will also be supported by the wards band 6s and ward manager.

All members of staff would also be offered the opportunity to undertake the Advanced Life Support course (ALS) as part of your continued development and to provide you with the shills to manage emergency situations.

You must be able to work as a team member and as an independent practitioner, adhering to the NMC code of conduct. Good communication skills are also essential.

The expectation is that you will be able to undertake the complete 24 hour rotational shifts from days to nights though flexible working patterns can be offered. There may also be times that staff are moved to support the Emergency Village.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Salford, to save and improve lives.

As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and collaborating closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we are always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months.

Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. To learn more about how you can gain a full NMC PIN to be eligible to apply for our vacancies in the future, please see the NMC website: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/register-nurse-midwife/trained-outside-uk/how-to-guide/
