This is a relief chef position supporting our chef teams across multiple sites along the A1/M corridor – from Leeds to Gateshead, with occasional travel to Manchester. You’ll be working within the catering teams delivering meals in staff dining environments for one of the world’s most recognisable online retailers.

This role is perfect for a chef who is adaptable, organised, and thrives on variety.

Please note: This is not a Monday to Friday role – flexibility across weekdays and weekends and some nights is essential

About the Role

We’re expanding our operations and are looking for an experienced Relief Chef to support our chef teams across key sites from Leeds to Gateshead, with occasional travel to Manchester. You'll be working in modern staff restaurants within the operations of a major global online retailer.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, hands-on chef who enjoys variety and can thrive in different kitchen environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Support multiple chef teams across the A1/M corridor

  • Deliver high-quality, fresh food in staff dining environments

  • Step into various kitchen operations as needed

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

  • Represent the business with professionalism and pride

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in contract catering or staff feeding

  • Confident working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting

  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel regionally

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Food hygiene certificate (minimum Level 2)

Job Description

As a Relief Chef Manager, you will ensure our future generations are provided with nutritionally balanced and tasty food. We serve thousands of meals every day across the UK and want this exceptional service to our schools and colleges to continue.

We therefore need you to be well presented, organised and possess great communication skills and have a genuine passion for what you do. We really want you to demonstrate a real passion for food and service, having worked in a similar environment at a similar level. The role will be hands on, working with your team and having sound health and safety and food safety knowledge.

As well as having an excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess bags of enthusiasm.



Qualifications

As a Relief Chef Manager you will previously worked in a similar environment at a management level.

  • Be a proven, hands-on leader, able to invest in your team and their development
  • Be naturally outgoing and vibrant, display a real passion for food and customer service
  • Have excellent Health & Safety knowledge
  • Be financially astute and have strong IT literacy
  • Be innovative and creative and driven by excellence
  • Stay up to date with current food trends
