Machine Operator Role
At Sorba Freeze, our chilled packaging offers innovative and cost-effective temperature-controlled packaging solutions. These include insulated boxes, ice packs, and liners designed for maintaining temperature-sensitive products during transport. They are known for their expertise in the chilled packaging market and offer solutions for various sectors like meat, cheese, and dairy. An exciting opportunity for a Machine Operator has recently arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join the Production Team based in Glenrothes.As a machine operator, your role is key to ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery within the Sorba Freeze division. By operating our lane filling machines, maintain quality standards, and collaborating with other team members, you contribute to the overall success of production operations.
Machine Operator Key Accountabilities
- Safety and Compliance - Ensure that all activities within the manufacturing site adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
- Machine Operation - Set up lane-filling machines according to specific jobs, monitoring machine performance and adjusting to maintain optimal production quality and efficiency.
- Quality control - conduct regular checks of produced materials to ensure adherence to quality standards, including print quality and dimensions. You will also help to identify and address any defects or issues with materials which may affect product quality.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting - perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment such as cleaning
- Material handling and set-up
- Documentation and reporting - maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, downtime incidents, production logs and quality control checks
- Administrative responsibilities in co-ordinating paperwork for job specifications, and dipatch
- Strict adherence to BRC processes
What you'll bring- Machine operation - understanding of operating principles and operations for various machinery used during production processes
- Prior experience of operating any type of lane filling machines, (or similar form fill and seal machinery) would be highly advantageous.
- Problem Solving - Identify and address any issues that may arise in the manufacturing process. Working proactively to resolve challenges and ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently
- Safety and Compliance - Ensure that all activities within the manufacturing site adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
- Material handling - knowledge of safe handling practices
- Quality control - skills in conducting quality inspections of produced materials, including visual checks measurements, and the ability to identify and address any issues or defects from the required quality standards.
- Attention to detail - High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate setup of machinery, precise monitoring of production processes and through inspection of finished products for quality assurance
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
