Summary

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join our Permanency team at the ‘front door’ of Children’s Social Care to help children at risk of exploitation and support their recovery. This is a part time, permanent role.

About you…
You must have current Social Work England registration and at least three years post qualifying experience within Children’s Social Care. To succeed in this role, you will have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, policies and thresholds.

You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and passionate about improving outcomes for children and their families. You will be an effective communicator who can engage with young people in crisis and work in partnership with others.

The Duty and Assessment Team acts as the front door for Children’s Social Care and carries out assessment and short-term work. We work alongside and directly with children, young people and their families. Our ‘front door’ colleagues know good beginnings have a better chance of making good endings.

Key responsibilities…
To undertake child protection enquiries and single assessments (for children for whom vulnerability to exploitation has been identified) and exploitation screening tools for children open to the Duty and Assessment team, and to support colleagues in the team to do the same.
To undertake short programmes of preventative work with children at risk of exploitation whilst subject to assessment.
To co-ordinate Return (from Missing) Conversations for children open to the Duty and Assessment team, keeping updated records of missing children for reporting purposes.
