Summary
General Assistant
Location: Cornerstones, Tilehurst, Berkshire (RG30) with occasional travel
Working Hours: 16 hours per week across Thursday and Friday (7am – 3.30pm)
Salary: £12.60 per hour
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.

Role overview
To undertake cleaning or laundry work in accordance with the relevant service specification. To provide excellent customer service to tenants (Retirement Living), providing timely feedback on completions and progress and/or problems encountered to the Scheme Manager.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out daily and deep cleaning of communal areas as directed by the Scheme Management and as detailed in the Scheme Cleaning Specification/Task list.
- Maintain all work locations, including storerooms in a clean and safe order.
- Carry out visual building checks and report to the Scheme Management any damage or repairs noted/identified during the course of your work.
- Observe and adhere to Health and Safety requirements (including COSHH regulations).
- Order, monitor and log cleaning materials.
- Collect, receive and organise washing cycles for residents’ and other scheme laundry in accordance with washing instructions and as directed by the Scheme Management.
- Laundry duties: Iron laundry and return to residents within required timescales.
- Clean all machines and maintain the laundry in a clean and tidy state.
- Assist the Scheme Management in general office administration/scheme tasks as required.
- Provide general support to Tenants on an ad-hoc/emergency basis as directed by Scheme Management or the Catering Manager.
- Assist at social events as required.
About you:
- Domestic, office or industrial cleaning experience
- An understanding of basic cleaning practices, equipment and products including COSHH regulations.
- An understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and procedures.
- Basic MS Office skills and willingness to learn new systems
- A self-starter with a proactive and enthusiastic attitude
