Summary
Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Hackney
Long Term Futures are working with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Hackney to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for September 2025.
This is a diverse and forward-thinking school with a strong support structure in place for students with additional learning needs. The role involves supporting across a variety of subjects, helping students to access the curriculum and stay engaged in lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of learning and emotional needs
* Assist in mainstream classes across core subjects including English, Maths, and Science
* Work closely with the SENCo and subject teachers to implement support plans
* Encourage student confidence, independence and participation
* Use behaviour strategies to support focus and progress in lessons
* Contribute to student progress tracking and feedback
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working in a secondary school or with young people in an educational setting
* A calm, proactive and encouraging approach
* Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students
* Understanding of SEN, EAL or SEMH support needs
* Flexibility to work across different departments and learning styles
Location and Transport - Hackney, East London
* Accessible via Hackney Central, Hackney Downs and Dalston Junction stations
* Local bus routes include: 30, 38, 55, 106, 253, 276
* Easily commutable from Islington, Waltham Forest, and Tower Hamlets
