Summary

Maintenance / Handyman - Retirement Village
£14 per hour | Monday to Friday 8am - 4:30pm (Flexible/Negotiable)
Ongoing Contract - Temp to Perm Opportunity

Are you a skilled Maintenance/Handyman looking for a rewarding role with an ongoing contract? Our client, a well-established retirement village, is seeking a reliable and proactive individual to support their current maintenance team.

Role Overview:
You will assist with the day-to-day maintenance tasks across the site, supporting the existing maintenance man. While some weekly compliance tasks are scheduled (Fire alarm testing, Legionella water quality checks), much of the work requires flexibility and the ability to respond quickly to varied maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct weekly compliance duties including fire alarm testing (team-based) and Legionella water testing with accurate documentation.

  • Handle residents' maintenance requests such as:

    • Resolving site-wide TV reception issues

    • Unblocking toilets and fixing flushing problems

    • Repairing or coordinating repairs for lifts, doors, taps, and other fittings

    • Laundry pickup and delivery

    • Taking landlord supply meter readings and monthly oil readings

    • Conducting monthly aid call checks

  • Act as the first line of defence for all maintenance issues before engaging external contractors.

What We're Looking For:

  • Practical handyman skills with a broad maintenance background

  • Ability to prioritise urgent issues while managing scheduled compliance work

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, especially with residents

  • Flexibility to adjust work hours and tasks as needed

  • Experience in a residential or retirement village environment is a plus
