A Vacancy at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled resident doctor at ST3+ level who clearly has a specialist interest in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The candidate will have achieved full MRCP qualification and have experience of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in practice. This might include clinical placements, experience of medicines management and governance committees or equivalent, audit with particular emphasis on therapeutics, experience in clinical toxicology or (early phase) research or have delivered teaching about pharmacology or therapeutics.

Full GMC registration is required at time of application. Previous paid NHS experience is essential (this does not include clinical attachments or observerships). This is a part time, fixed term post, from 6 August 2025 until 4 November 2025.

Please read attached Person Specification and Job Description

This role aims to provide ST3-5 support to the existing Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics team across our full scope of practice. The successful applicant will join our two other ST3+ trainees in together providing clinical care on our inpatient ward, during Toxicology ward rounds, in Hypertension clinic, in medicines management and in clinical research. You will work with our team of 4 consultants, our resident doctors and our wider multidisciplinary teams.

As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

For an informal discussion and further information regarding the opportunity and Directorate, please contact:Dr Simon Hill, Head of Department, at simon.hill@nhs.net
